Drug Legalization

· I am against the legalization of drugs. Drug use makes no one a better person. Those who support legalization make arguments that marijuana or other drug use is “no worse” than substances such as alcohol. But alcohol usage already kills tens of thousands of people, ruins marriages and childhoods, and leads to violence. Why would we want to add new substances to the list of substances that make us worse people?

· Drug usage is also at its heart escapist. It chemically alters the brain to make a person artificially feel better. We should be encouraging our fellow citizens to do things that make them actually feel better or improve their life situations. Making escapism easier to engage in hurts our society and the core character of our citizens.
